Why should you store albums in an upright position?

Caring for Your Scrapbooking Albums

Scrapbooking albums come in many shapes and sizes. The most popular size is the 12 x 12 scrapbooking album, but there are other sizes available, such as 9 x 9 and 8 x 8. The 8.5 x 11 scrapbook album is almost a thing of the past, but it is still around at some retail stores. The mini-scrapbook albums typically come in 3 x 3 and 6 x 6 scrapbook album sizes. Scrapbook albums are made of many different materials ranging from fabric to leather. Your albums should come with care instructions for the outside of the album and how to correctly operate it. Here are some suggestions for storing your scrapbook albums to keep them in good condition:

  • Scrapbooking albums should be stored in a dry area away from heat, cold, and humidity. Moisture or extreme heat may ruin the outside of the album and possibly some of the photographs.

  • Store your albums in an upright position, so the pages are not smashed together. This will help you avoid indentations and scratches from decorations or embellishments on the pages.

  • Keep your albums out of direct sunlight. Sunlight can fade the albums cover, as well as the pictures if the album is left open in the sun.

Caring properly for your scrapbook album is essential in order to keep your album in perfect shape for future generations to enjoy.
