What can brads be used for in scrapbooking?

Decorate Your Layouts with Brads and Snaps

Brads and snaps are scrapbook metal embellishments that can be used to decorate your scrapbook pages. They come in various shapes and colors. This type of metal embellishment is most commonly used as a fastener. Brads for scrapbooking can attach photos to mats or a scrapbook page. Brads have prongs that can be poked through your paper or you may have to punch a small hole to get them in, depending on the thickness of the paper or material. Snaps are more like eyelets; they have to be set in the page. First, you punch a hole, insert the snap and turn it over and pound it with a hammer.

Brads for scrapbooking and snaps can be used in many different ways. Here a few ideas:

  • Embellishments to border your scrapbook page
  • Decorate the corners of the scrapbook page or photo mats
  • Can be used in a row for a page divider
  • You can line up snaps or brads to make a photo border or outline
  • Use them to fasten raffia or ribbon to your page
  • Die cut embellishments like the center of a flower or wheels on a car.
  • Use them to attach tags or journaling blocks

Metal embellishments are an attractive decoration to add to your scrapbook layouts. Brads and snaps can add dimension and texture to your page design. Use them to accent any aspect of your layout.
