January 17, 2003, Newsletter Issue #112: Paper Textures- Distressed Paper

Tip of the Week

The trend in decorating seems to be the old distressed look. People are paying lots of money for distressed looking new furniture! We can add this old worn look to our layouts as well for a very nice dimensional effect!

Achieve a distressed look by lightly rubbing with fine grit sandpaper or steel wool.

Uses for paper distressing:
Heritage paper for an old worn look
Premade diecuts
Edges of photos
Background papers
Wood-sand brown cardstock
Denim- sand navy cardstock

Really Brave?
Burn edges of paper for an authentic antique look- great for treasure maps, camping pages, and journaling blocks.

*Wet your finger and rub in a circular motion for the holes in jean look
